55th Annual Legislative Conference

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” — Martin Luther King Jr.

I am truly honored and grateful to share that I’ve been selected to attend the 55th Annual Legislative Conference — Rooted, Ready, & Rising in Washington, D.C.

This highly respected conference brings together community leaders, policymakers, advocates, and changemakers from across the country to learn, connect, lead, and engage in the conversations shaping our communities and our future.

For me, this opportunity is about more than attending a conference. It is about continuing to grow as a community leader, deepening my understanding of public policy, strengthening my voice as an advocate, and stepping confidently into the spaces where decisions are made and change begins.

I’m going with a heart ready to learn, a voice ready to advocate, and a commitment to bring what I gain back home to better serve and empower my community.

Rooted in purpose. Ready to lead. Rising to make a difference.✊

Washington, D.C., I’m ready! ❤️

MLK Day of Service Food Drive: Help Us Feed Our Community

This MLK Day of Service, Jacqueline L Shaw and Community Partners, is expanding our impact beyond volunteer sites by inviting the community to donate non-perishable food items to support food pantries across Lewisville.

Across Denton County, food pantries are facing critical shortages. Rising grocery prices, increased demand, and ongoing economic pressures have made it harder for families to put food on the table — and harder for pantries to keep shelves stocked. Right here at home, many of our neighbors are feeling that strain every day.

In the spirit of Dr. King’s call to justice and dignity for all, we are responding with action.

🧡Food Drive Drop-Off Details

  • 📍Marcus High School (Parking Lot) 5707 Morriss Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028
  • 🕙Starting at 9:00am to 12:00pm on MLK Day of Service
  • 📅Monday, January 19, 2026
  • Rainout Date is Saturday, January 24, 2026

All donated items will be distributed to local food pantries serving Lewisville ISD families.

Pantry-Friendly Items to Donate:

  • Canned vegetables & fruits (low-sodium preferred)
  • Canned proteins (tuna, chicken, salmon, beans)
  • Peanut butter
  • Rice & pasta
  • Granola bars (any kind)
  • Fruit snacks
  • Cheez-Its
  • Goldfish
  • Sandwich crackers
  • Potato Chips (any flavor, hot or not)
  • Applesauce pouches

Every can. Every box. Every bag makes a difference.

Whether you’re volunteering or simply stopping by to donate, we continue to remember that MLK Day is a day of service, care, and community support.
